NEW ITEMS AT GOLDEN TORTOISE




Japanese jar for sake. Made in Korea during the Japanese occupation.
H. 40cm, Diameter 33cm.



Wooden plate with standing statue holding two knives at one end of the plate and a wooden knife in between his legs. Trace of  colour pigments. Burma.

This item was used before a tattoo ceremony to bless the body part.


Brass tripod incense burner. Korea.

Early 20th century.

FURNITURE RESTORATION (OLDWOOD)


Chest restoration.
We acquired this Japanese chest 15 years ago.
This is a 20th century clothing chest quite common on the market. Original hardware.


Front of the chest.
Pine wood covered with a thin lacquer.
The lacquer was in bad condition. Color was peeling at the bottom of the chest.


Top front.


Bottom front.


Side with handles to carry the chest.
Top and sides of this chest were covered with a thin layer of paper on which color has been applied.

Partially restored chest.
Body has been covered with ivory lacquer.


Drawers covered with dark grey leather.



Fittings colored with "assiette verte patina"

WOOD & STEEL (OLD WOOD)

We are developing a new furniture design made from old tropical woods and steel.

Steel is mainly used to cover the top of the chests such as consoles and low coffee tables.

STEEL TOPS

Steel panels are dark grey color when received.
Sometimes, we work on different finishing by exposing the panels to water or using acid to get a rusted finish.


Steel sheet ( 3mm) as we get it.


Light rusted steel, grey color, wax finish.


Light rusted steel, brown orange color.
Wax finish.






Deep rusted steel. Dark brown and grey color.
