FURNITURE RESTORATION (OLDWOOD)

This is a Korean "BANDAJI" also called  in the West "Blanket chest". Early 20th century.
Usually this type of furniture is covered with a dark brown stain. Wood is red pine, fittings made from iron.

This chest suffered during a fire at a friend's place. Most of the damages were due to water. The original stain was partly covered with white marks. We decided to give it a new life.

White marks due to water

We decided to strip off the dark color and bleach a bit the wood.
We kept some parts dark and applied a natural wax on the body.
Here is the result.
